Merapi volcano, Central Java – 25th November 2022

Activity of the Volcano:

Observed Merapi from a distance of around 15 km South of the volcano, only for a short hour on the 25th November. Weather conditions: clear in the morning, overcast in the afternoon. A white plume drifting SW was seen being emitted from the summit crater.

As of the 25th November 2022, the 2021 lava dome on the SW flank  has a volume of  1.616.500 m3, and the lava dome in the central part of the crater 2.772.000 m3, according to BPPTKG.

5 km restriction zone is currently in place for Merapi volcano, according to Indonesian Authorities BPPTKG, The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation, Geological Agency. The volcano is as of today 28th November 2022 still on alert level III.
