Merapi volcano, Central Java, Indonesia – June 2022

Activity of the Volcano:

Observed Merapi from a distance of 6,5 km SW of the volcano, for a total of 12 hours during 11-12th June. Weather conditions: overcast made observation difficult on both days. Because of the poor weather conditions, a clear view of the summit or the rockfall activity was not observed.

As of the 10th June 2021, the 2021 lava dome on the SW flank  has a volume of  1.551.000 m3, and the lava dome in the central part of the crater 2.582.000 m3, according to BPPTKG.

5 km restriction zone is currently in place for Merapi volcano, according to Indonesian Authorities BPPTKG, The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation, Geological Agency. The volcano is as of today 20th April 2022 still on alert level III.
