Observed Merapi from a distance of 5km southwest of the volcano, for several hours on the 7th October. Weather conditions: partly cloudy and foggy conditions. On the 8-9th October weather conditions (fog) prevented observation.

The frequency of rockfall events from the 2021 lava dome was lower than my last visit this year, in August. Visited the area in September as well, but foggy conditions prevented observation during my whole stay in the area.

The 2021 lava dome on the SW flank (as of 17th September 2021 has a volume of 1.550.000 m3 ) and the lava dome in the central part of the crater 2.854.000 m3, according to BPPTKG.
