Trucks collecting fine volcanic sand/dust of at the base of Semeru. The sand is used locally to produce cement for house building, however mostly transported to large cirtes in the vicinity, like Malang or Surabaya, to be sold for the same purpose. The riverbed seen on the photo contains not only sand/ash brought by lahars from Semeru but also bigger volcanic blocks.
